What kind of research are you doingIn conjunction with the CIB World Building Congress 2016 in Tampere, Finland, CREON hosted a PhD workshop on the topic “What kind of research are you doing? The workshop was intended for PhD students in construction management and related fields, and others who have ongoing research they want to discuss.
The workshop was attended by more than 20 students and supervisors, and Stephen Fox from VTT gave a presentation that can be downloaded here: What kind of research are you doing.

- Each participant gives a two minutes summary of their PhD research
- Scientific research presentation.

The workshop is intended for PhD students in construction management and related fields, and others who have ongoing research they want to discuss. The workshop is organized by CREON and the CIB World Building Congress 2016. CREON is a network of Construction Researchers on Economics and Organisation in the Nordic region.
Note that the workshop is by no means limited to participants or topics related to the Nordic countries. All construction management researches are welcome. Note that supervisors and others are very welcome to participate in the work shop, in addition to PhD candidates.

Nordic conferences on Construction Economics and Organization have been biennial events for academics and industry people. These events are bringing together experts globally and those particularly from Nordic countries for sharing and learning new knowledge, to meet colleagues, get new connection and to visit/see interesting construction case projects or companies. For academics these conferences are important publishing channels. The accepted double blind reviewed papers are published using recognised academic media.
Abstract submission deadline September 15, 2014
We welcome both academic and industry contributions to the 8th Nordic Conference on Construction Economics and Organization. A special program for doctoral students is provided within this conference. Abstracts and full papers shall be double-blind reviewed by leading experts. The accepted papers shall be published in the conference proceedings book. The best contributions shall be recognized via best paper awards and chances for getting their papers published via short track in a well-known scientific journal.
The 8th Nordic conference on Construction Economics and Organization has its focus on the business environment change described above and its consequences. With its general theme “Leadership for targeted change and proven advancements” this conference is bringing together leading experts from academia and industry for showing the way ahead based on the latest research based findings and industrial experiences. We welcome contributions from industry, research institutes and academics. Accordingly, a somewhat more specific themes of the conference include, but are not limited to:
- Innovations for improved construction quality and performance
- Paradigm changes – what is expected from real estate and construction sector and what is ahead of us?
- Understanding the value of spaces, buildings and built environment
- Different stakeholders in the real estate and construction sector – Solutions for their integration and management
- New procurement models and approaches

Prof. Graham Winch
Graham is currently Professor of Project Management in Manchester Business School and Jubilee Professor, Chalmers University. A social scientist by training, he is also an author who has written several books and published over 40 refereed journal articles.
Prof. Anne Grete Hestnes
NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Her main scientific interest is in the areas of energy conservation and the use of solar energy in buildings. She is Director of the National Centre for Environment-friendly Energy Research – Zero Emission Buildings.
About the conference
The 7th Nordic Conference on Construction Economics and Organisation is hosted by NTNU and SINTEF. The conference starts Wednesday 12 June 2013 and finishes Friday 14 June 2013. The conference is located at NTNU Gløshaugen campus in Trondheim, Norway.
The conference will focus on green urbanization. Urbanization is meant in a wide perspective, and green indicates the consequences for construction organization and economy from ongoing development, as well as the industry’s ambitions for the future.
